A marketing agency at the Mostar fair? Yes, and for a reason.

Fairs are full of products. We brought โ€“ stories. And listened. Here's what we learned.

When we decided that our agency would exhibit at the largest fair in Herzegovina, we were asked:

“And what will you do there? Sell websites?”

Honestly? We wondered the same thing at one point.

Because fairs are full of concrete products: wines, cheeses, machines, tools.

And we โ€“ we tell stories, we create websites, we run campaigns, we build brands. Something that cannot be touched, weighed on a scale, or taken home in a bag.

That’s exactly why it was a challenge for us.

We wanted to see what it looks like when a marketing agency moves away from the internet and comes face to face with people. What problems do real entrepreneurs in Herzegovina have โ€“ and do we even speak the same language?

While many from our industry were preparing for Konversija, Social Media Day and Days of Communication – we were preparing a stand for the fair in Mostar.

Not in a spectacular manner. Rather, modestly, but with intention.

To be present where marketing is still not understood, but is felt to be needed.

Here’s what we learned:

– People are not looking for a “story”. They are looking for a solution. Only when they feel that you understand them, are they open to more.

– Many small brands don’t have a problem with quality, but with invisibility. People don’t know about them because they don’t have a strategy, continuity, or presence.

– The most interest was in specific questions such as: “How can I reach more customers without spending my annual budget?”

We didn’t “hand out flyers.” We gave advice. We asked the right questions. We offered an honest assessmentโ€”and people recognized it.

No colorful presentations.

Without a script.

And then, admittedly, they did get a flyer. ๐Ÿ˜„

At the end of the day – that’s why we came. Not to “be present”, but to check if there is any point in our presence at events like this. And there is. But only if you are willing to listen more than talk.

If you ask me, every fair is a valuable lesson. And there’s no shame in admitting that you did something more out of curiosity than a plan. And maybe that’s why the result is great.

Behind all of this is us โ€“ CONVOCO. A small agency from Ljubuลกki, which one day is working on campaigns for Julius Meinl and Zeiss, and the next day is “ironing cables” at the Mostar fair. And it all makes sense to us. Because marketing is not a matter of appearance, but of approach.
